What You Will Do
- As a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) at Serrala, you'll be part of a highly collaborative team focused on provisioning and maintaining infrastructure and services with stability, sustainability, and security always on your mind.
- You will work in a self-guided, cross-functional team responsible for everything from modernizing traditional services to deploying new technology.
- You'll collaborate closely with application engineers, platform engineers, and product managers to maintain and optimize our cloud-based systems.
- You set up the test and production environments together with our engineering teams using infrastructure as code. You automate manual tasks and monitor all components running under the team's governance
- Your expertise and discretion will be required to think outside the box and resolve highly complex issues creatively and effectively.
Your responsibilities in a glance:
System Monitoring and Incident Response:
- Monitor system health, detect anomalies, and respond promptly to incidents.
- Drive continuous risk mitigation and reduction through direct involvement in incident management, blameless postmortems, and follow-ups.
- Work on complex issues, analyzing situations or data that require in-depth evaluation.
- Investigate and troubleshoot issues related to services.
- Implement proactive measures to prevent service disruptions.
Infrastructure Automation:
- Develop and provision infrastructure-as-code (IaC) scripts for deployment and scaling with Terraform and Ansible.
- Automate routine tasks to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention.
Performance optimization:
- Collaborate with development teams to optimize software performance.
- Drive measurable improvements to the reliability, performance, and efficiency of our production systems through instrumentation, analysis, and implementation of engineering improvements.
- Identify bottlenecks and implement solutions to enhance system speed and reliability.
- Develop repeatable, low-toil operational practices through the development of automated systems for software delivery, and system failover.
Capacity Planning:
- Forecast resource requirements based on traffic patterns and business growth.
- Scale infrastructure to accommodate increasing demand.
Security and Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices.
- Implement security controls and participate in security audits.
What makes you excel in this position:
- Familiar with the automation of routine tasks.
- Experience working with Cloud technologies (Azure preferred).- Deep understanding and hands-on experience with Linux & Windows administration, scripting (Bash, Python or any similar programming/scripting language), and troubleshooting.
- Understanding of network protocols, DNS, and related technologies.
- Comfortable providing a wide range of support, from simple issue resolution to end-to-end onboarding.
- Experience with incident management in a production environment
- Strong sense of accountability and commitment to problem solving, backed by a curiosity to dig deep and identify root causes.
- Familiarity with Terraform, Ansible, Jenkins, Gitlab, GitHub, Vault, Docker
- Proven knowledge of programming and scripting e.g. Java, Python, MySQL etc.
- Use of Jira, Confluence
- Some experience in an SRE role, or in a comparable role (e.g. system administration), operating in a scaled environment.
- Firm grasp of the SRE philosophy and mindset, with practical experience working on or directly with SRE teams that have proactively engaged in system design and improvement.
- Strong troubleshooting & solving skills, effective communication, and a proactive attitude
- Willingness to proactively engage with development teams to influence the course of software design and operational practices.
- Passionate for continuous learning and leverage the scientific method to ensure nothing is taken for granted.
- Proven knowledge of spoken and written English.
